Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area Now a Level II Arboretum
The historic museum and arboretum features 18 Virginia state champion trees and one national champion tree
Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area and commercial properties are now a Level II arboretum. BrightView sponsored various stages of the Level I and Level II accreditation application process. To secure the accreditation, BrightView and other volunteers demonstrated stewardship and care for more than 100 species of trees and woody plants. Level II accreditation also requires additional educational and public programming, reflected in a new arboretum-focused tour, expected to launch this fall.
The historic museum and arboretum is made up of a variety of trees and shrubs, including more than 30 historic gardens, 18 Virginia state champion trees, and one national champion tree.
