BrightView team members in South Carolina recently held a Community Day in which volunteers helped create a new landscape for the Julie Valentine Center in Greenville, S.C.

Hurricane Matthew, one of the most feared storms in a decade, made its destructive way north along the Atlantic seaboard October 7 and 8, causing devastation from Florida to Virginia.

The 12 acres of the Woodfield Corporate Center needed to be more appealing and environmentally stable, even with is several microclimates, rooftop gardens, pond, and walking trails. With the changes implemented, Woodfield has reduced the heat radiating from the underground parking structure, reduced the amount of organic matter running into the pond, and more.

You may have heard of the term regenerative landscapes, but are they right for you? The idea is to use native plants in a way that allows them to thrive as they would in their natural environment. With the right combination of plants, your regenerative landscape can keep diseases from spreading while shutting out invasive weeds, reducing the need for pesticides, and water.

Making the cut are the Four Seasons Hualalai on the Kohala-Kona Coast and the Four Seasons Resort Maui on Wailea Beach, both of which feature work by BrightView.

Pavilion Park sits on the former 3,700-acre El Toro Marine Corps Airbase Station and was achieved through a thoughtful and sophisticated design-build process. In particular, large heritage trees provide shade throughout, including an expansive terrace designed for community gatherings. The terrace features a unique art installation of wind chimes, which further contributes to the relaxed atmosphere of the park. Southern California-native and California-friendly plants were also used to create a bold, simple, and distinctive landscape.

Students at the Luis Munoz Marin School in Bridgeport, Conn., returned to class for the new school year with a brighter, friendlier playscape, thanks to a combined effort from BrightView, UnitedHealthcare and Groundwork Bridgeport, a nonprofit which brings about the sustained regeneration of the environment.

It started off as just a regular day for BrightView’s Antonio Lopes, who was on his way to work Aug. 7, when smoke wafting from an apartment building caught his attention.

The U.S. Green Building Council assembled a design team and conceptualized a new orphanage in the capital city, which will also be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum certified.

El Valor is the second largest provider of early child education in the city, yet the park at their Ray Gonzales Facility was outdated and surrounded by caution tape.
